About
We are the camp and conference center for the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Alabama. Since 1948, people of all faiths and backgrounds have used our facilities to rest, learn, grow, worship, and play. Camp McDowell is better known as “God’s Backyard.” Situated on 1,140 acres of forests and fields with breathtaking canyons and waterfalls, camp has something for everyone. We have conference center (hotel style) facilities for 200 people and a rustic and comfortable camp cabin area which also holds 200 people. Let us host your conference, or come enjoy summer camp for children, environmental education for school groups, and the Folk School’s art and music workshops for adults. All people and traditions are welcomed with love and joy.
Commitment
We are seeking to improve accessibility in our facilities with a new expansion built with universal design and upgrade existing facilities. We are also developing summer camp programs that highlight inclusion.
