COMMIT TO INCLUSION AFRICA

About

Social Media and Advocacy Campaign – Commit to Inclusion Africa.

International Campaign on Physical Activities for Children with Disabilities in Africa is spearheaded by Integrated Youth Volunteer Foundation (IYVF).

www.iyvf-international.org

1) that the rights of children and adolescents with disabilities to physical activity, PE and sport are recognized across the UN system,

2) that there is global recognition that ‘enough is enough’ and NOW is the time to make physical activity, PE and sport inclusive for ALL children and adolescents. The first is about ensuring key frameworks coming out of the UN system, namely from UNESCO on PE, WHO on health and disability, and the post-2015 agenda acknowledge the rights of children with disabilities in these domains. The timeline is on-going as we have to wait and see when critical discussions and decisions will take place.

The second result is based on the fact that we have appropriate policies in place – e.g. CRPD Article 30.5 – but they are not being realized and thus we want to remind key decision-makers that they exist and we will provide examples of how they can and are being achieved. Since the Task Force is made up of volunteers, we will be leveraging existing platforms and resources to launch a social media and advocacy campaign in Africa to achieve the second result.
